Housing Counseling

As a HUD-Certified Housing Counseling agency, Springfield Partners provides comprehensive housing counseling in the areas of homebuyer education for first-time homebuyers; post-purchase counseling, to help homeowners remain in their homes; default and foreclosure prevention counseling; and displacement and relocation assistance.

Springfield Partners is a HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agency. Our Homebuyer Education classes are also certified by the Mass Housing Partnership and the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA).

These certifications mean that our clients can be eligible for special mortgage rates, second mortgages, and down payment assistance via specific banking institutions.

Springfield Partners offers workshops for first-time homebuyers on a rotating basis throughout the year.

Housing Counseling

Springfield Partners has an experienced Housing Counselor who can help you avoid foreclosure by establishing a repayment or special forbearance plan; obtaining a mortgage modification; or by refinancing.

First-time homebuyers can attend First-Time Homebuyer Workshops, receive one-on-one housing counseling, get information on fair housing and predatory lending, or get help with credit repair and money management.

For more information, please call our Housing Counselor at 413-263-6500 ext. 6538.

Eviction Clinic

This is a partnership with Massachusetts Justice Project, Western Mass. Legal Services and Housing Court.

Clinics are held weekly from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at our main office at 619 State Street. Our eviction counselor provides education and information to tenants facing eviction, and helps prepare tenants for Housing Court hearings. The goal is to ensure tenants know, understand and exercise their rights. Springfield Partners uses the court’s process list to send notices to tenants, informing them of the eviction hearing and about our Eviction Clinic.

For more information, please call our Eviction Counselor at 413-263-6500 ext. 6565.

Asset Development

Springfield Partners can double – or triple – your cash savings for a down payment on a home!

Income-eligible participants can apply for an Individual Development Account (IDA), which are matched savings accounts. In just a year, your $2,000 savings account could grow into a $6,000 down payment.

For more information, please contact our IDA Program Coordinator at 413-263-6500 ext. 6545.
