Tornado Tax Relief | | | Springfield Partners for Community Action is offering free tornado tax return filing services to Hampden County tornado victims declaring property losses.
Experienced tax preparers will offer this free service to homeowners and renters.
Residents unsure whether they ought to claim property losses, or who want more information, are invited to attend a free information session.
These sessions will be held every Saturday, from Jan. 28 to April 7, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., at Springfield Partners, 721 State St., 2nd Floor, Springfield.
Declaring property casualty losses is a complicated process. It typically takes an experienced professional tax preparer about 3 hours to complete the paperwork.
Filing these losses may bring substantial tax relief to some, particularly homeowners with destroyed homes or major property damage.
