Resources for Covid-19 Testing

1.     BAYSTATE HEALTH CONTINUES TO EXPAND AMBULATORY COVID-19 DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
BH has greatly expanded our COVID-19 ambulatory testing over the past three weeks. Through this process, the rate of ambulatory, drive-thru and walk-up testing has more than tripled!
Here are some highlights of our current testing program:
·         We have stood up six drive-thru / walk-up testing sites across all BH regions Springfield (Carew St., High St., Brightwood), Greenfield, Westfield, Ware, for all patients 12-years of age and older. These are available to all providers (i.e. BMP and independent) for testing symptomatic patients with appropriate provider orders. More than 600 tests in the past several weeks have been ordered by independent, community providers. We plan on opening an additional site at Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center, tomorrow, Thursday, May 7.
·         Appointments for ambulatory testing are required and available through the COVID testing phone line. We have capacity to test ~80 patients per day, M- F at every site. The Carew St. site in Springfield is open half-day on Saturdays.
·         We are offering testing for children at High St. (all ages) and at Greenfield (2-years and older).
·         After getting a swab test, patients are provided an educational handout as well as a link to enrollment in the “Get Well Loop,” a self-tracking, education, and symptom monitoring tool for patients. Daily monitoring “Loop alerts” are sent to Contact Center RNs who, based on symptoms, can appropriately triage patients.
·         Our Drive-thru sites are also set up to accommodate walk-in patients, such as people who depend on the bus to get to the testing site.
·         We have recently tested more than 100 residents of the “Friends of the Homeless” shelter in Springfield, a potential COVID-19 ‘hot-spot.’
·         We have continued to support our colleagues and their testing needs in various post-acute facilities throughout our region, as these also represent potential COVID-19 ‘hot spots.’
·         Two BRL cars equipped with Paramedic/ MA and NP/ MA are being deployed to community sites, most often to patients’ homes, through a referral process from BMP PCPs. Services include swabbing, symptom assessment, and triage. We are working to expand services to BH affiliated provider groups. 
·         We are in the process of developing plans for COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic patients who are being scheduled for future non-urgent procedures and surgeries and hope to be ready when the Governor lifts restrictions.
